HKFOSHA Safety Seminar on Working at Height

To support “Construction Industry : Safety First " Campaign of Labour Department, the Hong Kong Federation of Occupational Safety and Health Associations (HKFOSHA) will organize the above Seminar with details as follows:

    Date    :      27July 2017 (Thursday)           Time  : 6:45 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. (Registration start at 6:30p.m.)

Venue :      Lecture Hall Room No. LT-14, Yeung Kin Man Academic Building of City University of Hong Kong.

    Target Group :     Safety Practitioners

    Fee             :         Free of Charge

    Language      :      Cantonese

According to LD’s statistics of number of fatality accidents from 2011 to 2016, the major cause of fatal accidents is due to falling from height (60 cases out of 118 cases or 50.8% in total). Safety issues related to working at height are our major causes of concern to safety practitioners.

We are happy that two distinguished speakers will share the valuable experience relating to working at height.

    1.            Mr CO Tak Chi is Senior Divisional Occupational Safety Officer of Labour Department and he will share the recent cases of fatal accidents relating to falling from height and the relevant preventative measures.

    2.            Mr. TANG Wai Hung is Assistant Director of Wan Chung Construction Company Limited and is responsible for the safety, health and environmental management planning for the Group. He is Executive Member of HKFOSHA and the representative of the Federation to the Task Force on Safety of Bamboo Scaffolds.

The “Guidelines on Planking Arrangement for Providing Working Platforms on Bamboo Scaffolds” issued by CIC in May 2014 will be updated to allow either fully boarded of the scaffolding or adopt closely boarded bamboo scaffolding to enhance the construction safety. It is expected the updated Guidelines will be released in Q3 of this year.  Mr. Tang will outline the relevant requirements of above Guidelines as well as what actions are required by safety practitioners.

Registration: Please complete the reply slip as attached and return via email secretariat@hkfosha.org.hkSuccessful application will be notified in due course. The seminar is free of charge and Attendance Certificate will be issued to members of HKFOSHA upon completion of the seminar.  Seats are limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.  Please enroll as soon as possible.
