Dear Members,
You should be aware of the consultation for the CPD from Labour Department (LD). Last Friday on 12 July 2019 (Fri), the Federation had organized the captioned seminar and in the seminar, LD representatives briefed us what they want for the CPD of RSO. But the most important thing is what you want to be your CPD. The consultation deadline will be closed on 18 July 2019 (Thu). On one hand, we are trying to push the LD via The Federation to extend the consultation period. On the other hand, we wish to collect more of your views. Please drop your views to us at srso@srso.org.hk by 16 July (Tue) at 5:00 pm latest so that we can include your views in our reply. The draft Guidance Notes on CPD Programmes for RSOs is attached for your information.

Subject: Consultation on the proposed amendments to GN on CPD Programmes for RSOs

Dear Member,
The Labour Department has issued the above Guidance Notes for the purpose of renewing or revalidating of RSOs.
Proposed amendment to the Guidance Notes includes:
(i) introducing at least 30 hours designated OSH topics and professional ethics and integrity as the prescribed categories of the CPD Programmes;
(ii) accepting soft skills training as one of the options for CPD programmes; and
(iii) adjusting the maximum acceptable number of CPD hours of each category to tie in with the above amendments.

After the consultation, the Labour Department expects the amended Guidance Notes could be published in 2020 and will be fully implemented by 2022 after a two-year grace period. In other words, RSOs, who apply for renewal of revalidation from 2022 onwards, have to meet the requirements of the amended Guidance Notes (i.e. the Fourth Edition).
